Self-aligning roller bearings, whose outer ring is spherical raceway and inner ring is double raceway, have automatic self-aligning performance. Therefore, the normal operation of the machine can still be guaranteed when the bearing is bent under load or when the axis of inner ring is inclined relative to the axis of outer ring due to machining errors and installation errors. The allowable angular errors of self-aligning roller bearings vary slightly according to different size series.

Double row self-aligning roller bearings are mainly used to withstand radial load, but they can also withstand smaller axial load while mainly bearing radial load, but can not withstand pure axial load.
 
In order to prevent the inertia force on the ball and cage and its friction with lubricant from having adverse effects on the rolling condition of bearings at high speed, and to cause harmful sliding between balls and raceways, bearings must bear a certain minimum radial load.
